Don’t Think, Just Act!

We all have it . Maybe to varying degrees but we all have it……Instincts!!!

Life has it’s fair share of events and incidents. Instincts are the compass that help me navigate through those ups and downs.

I’ve found a way that helps me understand and create a distinction in order to identify my instincts. It’s not foolproof but it works very well in my experience. I am a student of life just like everyone else and hence I’m still working on my understanding of the concept. The phrase I use to remember to use my instinct is “Don’t Think, Just Act”.

Now don’t go and cross the road without thinking to see if there’s a truck coming by. I’ve never used it for that. I use the phrase to remind me not to go into the rut of calculations and reasons. To remind me to do worthy things that make my living worthwhile for me.

For example, I love to go for runs. But it’s so easy to get lazy on a cold day and skip it. My mind gives the most amazing reasons to go back to sleep. “It’s cold”, “Last night’s sleep wasn’t all that good”, “I need more sleep to be fresh for the assignment at work”….so on and so forth. These are the calculations and reasons. At such times I remember the phrase “Don’t Think, Just Act”. Your natural instincts tell you what’s right for you. That phrase reminds me about that fact and helps move out of bed and start the day one of the most amazing ways. There are times I don’t go for a run but that’s again not because of the reasons but the true voice inside that says don’t. Either ways you’re right, as long as you listen to your instincts.

Your instincts never lie. You need to learn to distinguish the inner true voice against the reasons. Instincts don’t calculate they resonate with the environment around you.

What’s your phrase to identify your instinct? Do you use another method? Drop your feedback below.
